A reluctant client is one who does not actively seek counseling and may enter the process due to external pressure or a perception that the relationship is coercive or not their choice. In contrast, resistant clients actively oppose or block the counseling process, often as a defense against change. “Reluctant clients tend to assume that counseling is being imposed upon them, often due to outside influence or pressure, and may be apprehensive about participating.”
